چکیده

A brief historical essay is presented on the leading Russian scientific school plant environmental physiology, which has for over 60 years been studying issues of adaptation to adverse factors (low and high temperatures, excessive lighting, heavy metals, etc.). The tells about main sources prerequisites its foundation, development this key results achievements since 1970. most important among latter are data phenomenology responses stress studies underlying physiological, biochemical molecular genetic mechanisms.

Effect of silicon supplementation on wheat plants under salt stress

Heavy metals are the cause of major abiotic stresses in plants and a principal contributor to environmental pollution in recent decades. This study investigated the effects of exogenous hydrogen sulfide on the ascorbate-glutathione cycle in the leaves of coriander seedlings under copper stress. Results showed that copper stress not only reduced APX and GR activities but also decreased leaf AsA,...

Physiology of Plants Affected by Ageing

Objective: Ageing of the stored seed is a natural phenomenon and the seeds tend to lose viability even under ideal storage conditions. Accelerated ageing has been recognized as a good predictor of the storability of seed lots. Aged seeds show decreased vigor and produce weak seedlings that are unable to survive once reintroduced into a habitat. The characteristics of the chemical composition of...

Antioxidant responses of wheat plants under stress

Currently, food security depends on the increased production of cereals such as wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), which is an important source of calories and protein for humans. However, cells of the crop have suffered from the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which can cause severe oxidative damage to the plants, due to environmental stresses. ROS are toxic molecules found in variou...

Conservation physiology of plants

Conservation physiology was first identified as an emerging discipline in a landmark paper by Wikelski and Cooke (2006). They defined it as ‘the study of physiological responses of organisms to human alteration of the environment that might cause or contribute to population decline’. Although the case studies and examples presented by Wikelski and Cooke (2006) focused on wild animals, they also...
